Great post, Mike. Her call for balance between group work and individual work really struck a chord. My favorite boss ever actually encouraged me to take 30 minutes every day to go for a jog or to take a walk in the woods because "everyone needs to be alone sometimes to think".
More and more research shows that casual, serendipitous idea-sharing (the coffeehouse) is where creativity occurs--not "forced" group work. For more on this, I suggest reading the book "Where Good Ideas Come From" by Steven Johnson.
